The Startup India initiative has achieved a remarkable milestone with over 1 lakh startups now registered under the program. These startups have collectively created employment opportunities for more than 12 lakh people, contributing significantly to India's job creation goals.
The program, launched in 2016, has transformed India's entrepreneurial landscape by providing regulatory support, funding assistance, and tax benefits to startups. Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities have emerged as major contributors, accounting for 45% of all registered startups.
Technology startups dominate the landscape, followed by healthcare, fintech, and e-commerce ventures. Women entrepreneurs constitute 45% of startup founders, indicating growing gender diversity in the entrepreneurial ecosystem.
The government has announced additional support measures including a ₹10,000 crore fund of funds and simplified compliance procedures. International investors have shown increased interest in Indian startups, with funding reaching record levels.
